On the 18th November five members of the STAR Group
attended a very interesting lecture by Matt Taylor at Nottingham Trent
University. Matt is the European Space Agency (ESA) Project
Scientist on the Rosetta Mission and his lecture was on the 'Rosetta Mission So Far'.

The Autumn Coffee
& Groups Open Morning
was held on Saturday 10th October. It was most pleasing that
a
good number came along and there was such a lively 'buzz' around the
hall, with much conversation going on around all the various tables and
enjoyment of the coffees etc provided. A selection of photographs

During the Coffee and Groups Open Morning some suggestions for
possible new interest
groups
were made. The suggestions were: Italian Conversation,
Calligraphy, Railway Modelling, Sunday Lunch / Weekend Activities,
Canasta, Cryptic
Crosswords and Flower Arranging. These were notified at
the October Monthly Meeting, with
sign-up sheets for those present to indicate interest in the suggested

20 Aug 2015The First East Midlands U3As Summer School
will be held in August 2016 at Nottingham Trent University,
Brackenhurst Campus, Southwell, from Tuesday evening16th August to
Friday 19th August 2016. There is much more information on the East Midlands U3As website. The plan is to run courses on the topics listed there. The final
selection of courses will depend on registered student interest. Please register your interest by the end of October 2015.
You can register your interest by sending your full name, U3A,
preferred course and email address to: michaelamoody2015@gmail.com.

16 Jul 2015STAR GROUP are organising a visit to Bletchley Park on Monday 5th October 2015 and the visit is open to all, you do not have to be a member of the STAR group. Full information on this leaflet.

session will be on the 4th Wednesday, July 22nd, instead of the usual 3rd Wednesday. Gill Wilcockson.
07 Jul 2015Cinema Club The Broadway has withdrawn the use of one of their screen rooms which they
have allowed us to use for several years. We have had some discussion with
them but to no avail . This means that the film " Galaxy Quest" which will
be shown at 1.00 o'clock on Monday 3rd August will be our last film. If
anything happens to alter things in the future I will of course let you

slideshow for newcomers to the game. The presentation can be

Needlecraft, Painting, Photography, Singing For Fun. Come and see

03 Feb 2015The East Midlands Regional Trustee has written a letter to all Chairmen of East Midlands U3As
to give them an update on things that are happening at National and
Regional levels in the U3A movement. At the Regional level questions
are sometimes asked about where our moneys come from and how they are
spent, and the letter includes an appendix that sets this out
clearly. The letter is in the Publications section of the East Midlands U3As website.
